National park
The sea area around Bothnian Bay and national parks belongs to HaparandaTornios foremost natural treasures. Haparanda archipelago’s national park has a size of 6000 hectare, of which 700 hectare is land.
Archipelago
Among 600 islands, Sandskär and Seskarö-Furö are the largest. In the area you can observe ringed seal and gray seal and variety of bird sepcies. The beautiful beaches i Hapranda Archipelago are well worth a visit. During the summer tour boats are arranged to Sandskär.
Kukkolaforsen
18 km north of Cape East Kukkolaforsen is located, which summertime is famours for its unique whitefish net fishing from wooden stands called “pata”. You will find fishing museums as a part of the cultural environment and you can visit mills from the 19th century, sawmills, miller’s cottage, smithy, fishing lodge and cooking lodge. You can try water rafting and how to broil whitefish.
